Whisk(e)y Review/ Talisker - The Distillers Edition

An interesting take on the normally salty Talisker, this time double matured in Amoroso casks.

Color - Light gold

Nose - Heavy on the peat, chocolate, some vanilla, a little caramel, some cranberry (maybe were just getting close to the holidays), some fig, other dark red fruits. A little all spice, some dry oak. Very complex, very rich but very rounded.

Palate - The peat comes first, but it changes into a nice sherry sweetness, very little pepper on the palate. Balanced, sweet, soft and very enjoyable. The peat is reminiscent of Talisker, salty and campfire-y. Some dark fruits on there and again some nice holiday spices.

Finish - Long, fades slowly and gracefully.

We now know that Talisker is one of those peated whiskies that works very well in sherry casks when done correctly.

Score 8.5/10
