The 2022 Ford Maverick

 The all-new 2022 Ford Maverick, a pickup truck with the fuel milage of a hatchback.

The new Ford Maverick will be the small pickup truck for someone who would’ve maybe bought an SUV. With a decent amount of towing and payload capacity, but the range of a hybrid car the Ford Maverick will truly be a pickup truck replacement for a market filled with SUV’s and crossovers.

As standard the Ford Maverick will be fitted with a hybrid system, and four doors meant to fit up to five full size adults. Also standard, the Ford Maverick will come with a 2.5-litre Atkinson engine paired with a hybrid powertrain and will produce a strong 191-horsepower and 155lb.-ft of torque. No, that doesn’t seem like very much and that is because it isn’t. But should you need to transport your ATV, it will handle it, although I wouldn't try to climb a large hill… On the plus side, there is a possibility get up to 800kms on one tank of gas with the hybrid option.

Now, should you want a Maverick that can actually haul a decent size trailer or some equipment, Ford will offer the Maverick with their 2.0-litre Ecoboost engine. The 250hp Ecoboost engine combined with the 8-speed automatic, standard AWD and the optional towing package, the Maverick will be able to tow up to 4,000-pounds.

On the inside, Ford has built the Maverick to have as useful of a space as it could. Using different kinds of materials, Ford has inspired a feeling of comfort but usability in the otherwise simple interior. With lots of storage, and ample space, Ford has made sure that adults could fit comfortably in all five seats and have enough space to store the little things that would usually be in the trunk of an SUV.

Also on the interior is a good amount of technology. For infotainment Ford has given the Maverick an 8-inch touchscreen with available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Maverick will also have all other standard commodities including Adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, Blind Spot detection, and five drive modes: Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery and Tow/Haul.

The bed. This is where the Maverick keeps tricks up its sleeves. Built for the DIYer and the youthful creator, the Ford Maverick will have the capability for customizable storage and organization. Using 2x4’s and 2x6’s you can slide the wood planks into designated slots to create a higher-level floor so you can build mounts for bikes or other types of things. 

The 4.5-foot bed will also have a trick tailgate that can be opened to a half position for when you load long items like planks of plywood or 2x4’s to that they stay at an angle and don’t hang low off the back of the truck. The bed will also have low sides so anyone can reach over and grab things out of the bed. Should you need light while doing the things in the bed, the Maverick will have two 110-volt outlets.

All in all, I think Ford did a pretty good job with the new Maverick. I don’t think it is the best looking for truck I have ever seen but being built for what it is meant to do, this is exactly what someone who wasn’t sure about the SUV’s available in the market can now look into a pickup truck that won’t use all of their monthly gas budget.
