Subaru Is Making An Electric SUV? Whaaaat!

 Yes, you read that correctly, even the company that barely changes anything in their lineup will now be making an all-electric SUV. 

Subaru will be opening up their global platform by adding what they are calling e-Subaru. This will be their new home for all Subaru electric vehicles in the future. For starters, Subaru has released the name of their first all-electric SUV. The name? The Subaru Solterra.

The name Solterra derives from the Latin words “Sun” and “Earth”, and this is to represent Subaru’s commitment to bring environmentally responsible SUVs to the market. 

As for what the Solterra will be, well, we don’t have a lot of information yet but, it will be a project put together between both Subaru and Toyota. From what we have seen in the past (the Subaru BRZ and Toyota 86) we know that the two companies work well together. Here, Subaru will be using their renowned all-wheel drive systems and combining it with Toyota’s electric technology. Together, we should see something quite interesting.

The Solterra is set to release in 2022, and I look forward to seeing more images as well as seeing what the Solterra will look like next to the rest of the Subaru lineup.
