Whisk(e)y Review/ Eagle Rare - 10 year

One of many from the Buffalo Trace line up, let’s see what it’s like.

Color - Dark bronze/amber

Nose - Oak, toasted barrel, old wood varnish like antique furniture, citrus/orange zest. Rich vanillas and caramels, a little candied walnut, a little all spice and a little bit of pencil which is kind of odd. So far, so good.

Palate - Oak for sure, pepper from the oak, that all spice. Oddly enough the pencil shavings kind of come through as well. The orange zest is there as well. Again, a deep more vanilla extract-y-ness (it’s still pretty sweet).

Finish - Medium/Long, the all spice is what sticks around the most.

I think if you want something from Buffalo Trace that has more character than the standard release, but a lower price tag than Blanton’s, I think this is the way to go.

Score 7.8/10

10 years old, Straight Bourbon Whiskey, 45%ABV
