Whisk(e)y Review/ Deanston 2008 - Oloroso Cask Matured

Color - Dark Amber with hues of orange

Nose - Super rich with sweet raisins, other red fruits, and slight toasted barrel (the good kind), maple syrup, caramel, creme brûlée, honey. This nose is just, wow. Something I can just sit with for a long while. Really dense and oily, and just so much of that raisin dark fruit, hints of chocolate as well, candied nuts, I mean this thing just goes on, as will we.

Palate - Rich, mouth coating, those raisins come back but drier, sweetness is still up there, turns into a light wood note, but so delicate. Chocolate, a rich caramel, the nuttiness is light on the palate but there.

Finish - Long, it doesn’t stay rich forever, but it does leave with a nice dryness that makes you want to go back to the nose.

If you can get your hands on this, it is another one of those un-suspected sherry monsters. Great value per dram. A definite must try in my book.

Score - 8.5/10
