Whisk(e)y Review/ Glenfarclas 12 year
I have returned from my holiday’s (never actually left) so let’s start with something simple, a little amuse-bouche.
Color - Light gold
Nose - Light tropical fruits, apple skins, a malty sweetness, honey, hints or caramel and vanilla, with touches of a younger wood. Hints of bubble gum maybe? Yes, like the Hubba-Bubba rolls, that kind of plastic-y sweetness with the white powder on it.
Palate - Cooked/stewed apples, vanilla, oak, there is some pepper there and little bit of tartness (could be because I haven’t had some proper whisky in a few days), sweet barley. Apricots and honey.
Finish - Medium, doesn’t go for super long, but there is an aftertaste which is ok.
Score 7.8/10
Comments: I think it has its place when you want something simple, maybe in a rocks glass (choose your ice) with conversation.
