Whisk(e)y Review/ High West - American Prairie Bourbon
I love how High West is honest with their labeling and what goes into the whiskey. In this case, like many others from High West, it is a blend of their own bourbon and MGP.
Color - Light amber/gold
Nose - Vanilla, caramel, toffee, dried corn, corn dust, some slight fruit apple maybe? There is a sweetness there with the vanilla almost a candy corn. A little bit of rubbing alcohol. Burnt orange peel.
Palate - Vanilla, caramel, the apple is there but only just a little for a short time. And it’s definitely on the sweet side. Its Oak-y, like a dry wood spice.
Finish - Medium, the dryness sticks around for a bit but the general flavour kind of goes away quickly.
Score 7/10
Comments: Honestly, it’s just a great simple bourbon, MGP makes great whiskey and so does High West. Blend them together and you have a great Bourbon, almost like magic eh?
Blend of strait bourbon whiskeys, 46%ABV, Batch 21I16, More info.
