Watches

I would say I got into watches when I was around 14 or 15. Basically in high school. My first watch from what I can remember was a Timex chronograph, don't ask what model, cause honestly I have no fucking idea. It was "given" to me by my dad (when I say given I really mean I found it and starting wearing it) and I had it for about a year or two before I sold it. Unfortunately I sold it for way too cheap and the only one who got a good deal was the person who bought it....

Within the last year I've also managed to start a little collection of six watches. I know, not  substantial or anything, but I think it's a good start. I have two Fossil's, a Diesel, a Timex, a Invicta, and a Citizen. I like my little watch collection so far, I have watches I can wear with a suit, watches I can wear everyday and one if I really want to look like a douche bag (its the all gold Diesel)(gifted by my brother).

About a year ago I started listening to "the watch and listen" podcast. That's where I learnt pretty much everything I know now. Given I don't know everything about watches. But I think I can get into a good conversation, until someone starts talking in reference numbers that's when you loose me! I mean I know the basics like, what all the different parts of a watch are, subdials, what a chronograph is. Basically the basics. But what the other great thing about the Watch and Listen podcast is all of the information on the different watch companies and manufactures. you really would have no idea the history of some of the watch makers and companies out there. I can only hope to one day be able to dive that deep on my blog or in a review.

This year (hopefully before Christmas) I plan on getting my first "real" watch. And by that I mean something along the lines of around 2000$-2500$. Now, I know some people will be like "oh I don't think you need to pay that much for a watch, all they do is tell time" or "wow you want to spend that much just for a name on a watch". Well, yes. But not just because the watch can tell me the time or because of some name on it, but because I like to think there is a meaning behind having a watch like that and being able to find a good watch that I like, and have a appreciation for, that someone might not.

A lot like in the automotive world there are so many options out there for watches that you really can find something that suits your lifestyle or your style or just you way of life. Do you need to spend over 2K to get a watch that meets all your needs. the honest answer is no, you can find a perpetual calendar watch on amazon for 30$ if you really wanted to. But remember you pay for what you get.
