2021 Zenith Chronomaster Sport
Zenith, the watch masters who used to make the movement for the Rolex Daytona, notice something funny about both?
2021 Zenith Chronomaster Sport
This year (2021) Zenith has released its most recent version of the Chronomaster Sport watch. A Chronograph watch that is capable of capturing the time within 1/10th of a second. Pretty spectacular right? Well, just think, they also built a watch that was capable of 1/100th of a second, but that’s not the one I’m talking about today.

Zenith has released this watch as a revision, but at the same time, trying to capture the same “feeling” that the older generation one has given. That is; a sport watch with both form and function. At first glance, we see a beautiful dial, three additional subdials, and two pump-style pushers. A good start when going for the form and function style.

The watch dial is offered in two colours, black and white, but the subdials come in a fixed blue, anthracite and light grey. For the case, we are looking at a 41mm wide, stainless steel case, with a black ceramic bezel etched with white markers. The white markers are those that are spaced for the 1/10th second display.
Looking into the back of the watch, we can see Zenith’s new in-house El Primero 3600 caliber automatic movement. This new movement is capable of 5 Hz or 36’000VpH which allows for amazing accuracy, while also offering up to 60hrs of power reserve. Nicely enough, Zenith made sure to instal a sapphire case back so we can look at the amazing movement.

Zenith gives two options for the bracelet. You can choose to have it on their stainless-steel bracelet, or a textured cordua-effect rubber strap with steel clasp. Personally, I like it more with the rubber strap.

Overall, I think Zenith did in fact release a beautiful watch, but to say that they designed a watch that looks this good is hard to admit. When compared to the Rolex Daytona, anyone and their dog would be able to tell you that they look extremely similar, and to say that it’s all about what happens on the inside, well, that’s certainly one way to look at it.
Unfortunately, I don’t think Zenith put in their full effort when it came to finishing the movement, especially when compared to that of the Daytona, but that being said, should you choose the new Zenith Chronomaster Sport, over the Daytona, you will save yourself a five-year waiting list & a few thousand dollars.
