2021 Ford Bronco
Does the new Bronco live up to the standards?
The new and very long awaited 2021 Ford Bronco has finally arrived, and boy are we (the auto industry) excited. Why? Well, because we haven’t had a new Bronco since 1996. The first-generation Bronco was brought to us in 1965, and instantly became a hit. Still to this day, I see first gen Bronco’s selling for well over their original market price and the retail price of the new Bronco. Also, with the new Bronco I think everyone looks forward to seeing what the capabilities will be from this machine!
The new Bronco is pretty but in a rugged, new, bold kind of way, and Ford did a killer job with the design. Now, you might be thinking “Jonny, it looks the same as the first-generation Bronco”, and you’d be right about that. The old and the new one, do share a similar look, but with the 2021 version, you get the modern-ness style, and I like that. A lot! Also, the Bronco is going to come with LOADS of different trim options and a HUGE aftermarket, not only from Ford directly, but also from all sorts of aftermarket manufacturers.
So, you like the outside? Good, because there is more. The fucking doors come off. Ok, yeah yeah, Jeeps have been doing that for the last 30 plus years, and I’ll give you that, but do you know one problem the Jeeps always had? Once, you took the doors off, do you know how many mirrors you were left with? One, One bloody mirror. Well, not anymore ladies and gentlemen, the Bronco has cowl mounted mirrors, which means when you take the doors off, the mirrors are still there for your viewing pleasure (and for legal reasons). Oh, and before I forget, you know what else the outside offers? A bottle opener! (Not legal for use to open roadies)
Now, what propels this beauty. Power comes from one of two options. Either a, 2.3L Turbo four cylinder making 270hp and 310 ft-lb of torque, or a 2.7L twin turbo V6 which makes 310hp and 400 ft-lb of torque. Backed behind those are either a 7-speed manual, or a 10-speed automatic. That being said, if you decide to go with the bigger engine, you can only have the 10-speed automatic. Unfortunate I know, but that’s fords decision and it also kind of makes sense. Staying on the fun side of things, you can also get front and back locking differentials, and 30” tall tires, as standard, but you also have the option of 35” tall tires. Shit, all your missing after that is a rooftop tent, and hello overlanding vacation!
Let’s talk price. The new Bronco will have a starting price of $40,499CAD but can be spec’d out to $58,494CAD for the Wildtrak (top) version. In my opinion, that is pretty reasonable for a 4-door, 310hp, 10-speed automatic SUV, that is more than capable off road. For comparison the msrp on a brand-new Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4-door, is $55,725CAD.
Overall, I think the 2021 Ford Bronco is exceptional looking, and it seems to have some amazing options. I absolutely can’t wait to see more Bronco’s on the road, and to see what people will do to them. I think the aftermarket for this truck is going to grow insanely quickly and we’ll be seeing overly lifted, small d*ck people driving them over curbs at the grocery store sooner than we can all imagine.
