Porsche Taycan

Four doors, Electric and it looks beautiful?

I'm talking about the Porsche Taycan. Freshly released and you'll be able to find a video link below to The Smoking Tires review of it, but here's my un-driven review of it.

For starters, wow, what a car. I mean its just beautiful isn't it? Like a better looking Panamera. Sleek from the front and a nice big ass when looking at it from the back. Some of the more specific styling cues I really like is the full taillight. I love how it just seems to glide across the rear of the car like that. How the front slopes downwards ever so gently, and the roof line so low yet tall enough for someone who's well over 6'. It also seems to offer a fair amount of ground clearance for a car that has a whole floor of batteries below it.

Lets get into the nitty gritty and what makes this car go. You have three spec choices for the Taycan; 4S, Turbo and Turbo S (turbo having nothing to do with the actual motor). With those you get different levels of power, but the same drivetrain. A Dual motor AWD system with a single speed front and two speed Dog-ring rear. All this put together to make 616hp and 626lb-ft for the Turbo, and 616hp and 774lb-ft for the Turbo S. Although when you use launch control (which this car has and its fucking nuts) you get 670hp for the Turbo and 750hp for the Turbo S. From what I can tell this car is absolutely insane and looks like it corners really fucking fast!

When it comes to the interior you get a beautifully put together ensemble. A choice of very nice leather, three screens; one heads up display that shows you everything you need to see when you're driving, another centre screen that spans almost all the way across the dash and one in the centre console. Also you get a sick ass clock smack in the middle with the time displayed in digital and the second hand circling around the dial.

The Batteries are also a major upgrade from most electric cars today. Porsche has decided to use a 800-volt system unlike Tesla, Volkswagen and other manufacturers that are using a 400-volt system. This opens the door for much faster charging. The Taycan is capable of charging from 5% to 80% in just 22.5mins. I know pretty fast right? Obviously it takes the right charger to do that, but how could it not be worth going to the right charger for that speed? It's also aided from the cooling system the Taycan uses to keep the batteries at just the right temperature so they can flow the most juice.

The technics were really brought out in this car, Porsche is really showing what they are capable of when it comes to ev's and I'm excited to see what is to come for the future. As for right now, you can start ordering your Porsche Taycan, the prices range from $120,000 for the 4S $150,000 for the Turbo  and $185,000 for the Turbo S.
